Running Down a Dream…Week 1

Happy Saturday! Hope y’all are having a great weekend so far. It is sunny and beautiful here in Middle Georgia. Excited to get some run time in over the next three days.

I updated my running play list on my Ipod so I am super excited. I may or may not have added the entire Pitch Perfect 2 Soundtrack as well as Taylor Swift’s new jam. So if you see me out running and singing, well, that’s just what I do lol. I know, I am a nerd.

This has been a good training week. Mixed it up a little and I am getting results.

Sunday- Ran 6ish miles of hills, hills, hills in the hot, hot, hot. Next half marathon is 23 days away!!

Monday- I ran intervals on the treadmill, followed by a short HIIT workout at Dark Horse Fitness. Then I hit the local paved trail for a 2 mile cool down.

Tuesday- I did an killer fat burner work out with my trainer then hit up yoga with Team RWB. (Note to self- I really need to stretch more)

Wednesday- This was a fun, tough workout. We did sledgehammer tire slams, walking lunges, power skips, side squats, goblet squats, farmer’s carry, and jump rope. I made it to 17 jumps without tripping. Y’all, that’s a record for my not so graceful self!!! After this workout I did 2 miles on the paved trail and reduced my time by 1:30. Yay!!

Thursday- Tried something new. I met my friend Amanda at a local pilates studio for a Booty Barre class. Oh em gee, this was more difficult that it sounded! Definitely a good workout and will be awesome to strengthen my ankles. I was sore in my hips, booty, and ankles the next day. So much fun though!! We are going back next Wednesday for a free session on the pilates transformer. I am excited about this!

Friday- rest day. I came down with a 24 hour stomach bug. Blech…

Saturday- 30 min yoga video and I am going to go watch a roller derby bout for research purposes. I want to learn more so I am prepared for the tryout session on June 4th. Yup, you read that right.  I am going to an introductory session with War Town Bombshells to try my hand (feet?) at roller derby!! I am beyond excited about this. Scared, but excited!!
